Veteran Marathi-Hindi film actor Seema Deo passed away on Friday, August 25, 2023, at her residence in Bandra, Mumbai. She was 81.
Deo was born in Pune, Maharashtra, in 1942. She made her acting debut in the Marathi film “Jagachya Pathivar” in 1962. She went on to appear in over 80 films in Marathi and Hindi, including “Koshish”, “Anand”, and “Kora Kagaz”.
Deo was known for her versatility and her ability to play a wide range of characters. She was also a recipient of the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors.
Deo’s son, filmmaker Abhinay Deo, confirmed her death in a statement. He said that she had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for the past few years.
